Zelenograd - Green City of Nanoelectronics

General

zelenogradZelenograd (in literal translation - ’Green City’), a suburban city located 40 km from Moscow, has numerous forests, parks, lakes, ponds and rivers in its area. The quiet and verdured town is considered to be a comfortable place for education, work and living. Zelenograd was built in 1962 as a center for microelectronics development and production (Soviet Silicon Valley). Currently it has more than 50 R & D centers and enterprises in development and production of a wide range of micro- and nanoelectronics equipment and products. Zelenograd is a scientific town; more than 82% of its citizens have higher education.

Education

zelenogradThe major state university in Zelenograd – the heart of its higher technical education – is Moscow Institute for Electronics Technology (MIET) leading technical university for electronic industry of Russia. MIET is one of 39 universities, which have the status of ’national research university’. The major areas of education and research at MIET are electronics (including nanoelectronics), biotechnology for electronic applications, information and electronics security, and materials for electronics.

Science & Technology

As a national center for electronic industry Zelenograd has several R & D organizations with their focus on electronics and related areas, such as IC research and production consortium Angstrem, and State Research Institute for Problems in Physics ) and its common use research facility Sinkhrotron leading federal nanoelectronics R & D center. Zelenograd is also a home of NT-MDT – consortium of the companies for development and production of nanotechnology equipment.
